Zuckerberg slightly changes his tone towards content moderation

Zuckerberg pledged to build products to ‘advance racial justice’ 🤔

Trump threatened to close down Social Networks after Twitter fact-checked him and censored his infamous tweet "when the looting starts, the shooting starts". FB did not agree with Twitter's decision and decided not to take down Trump's post leading to angry employees walking out or resigning ✊🏾

Zuckerberg said the company will eventually review existing policies on content related to civil unrest and violence, not giving further details 🧐

FB stock is at an all-time high but the lack of clarity on content might scare investors ahead of the general elections...

Facebook will also review how else the company can moderate content. Currently, Facebook can either leave content up or take it down, Zuckerberg said. But he cautioned that adopting “in-between” approaches -- like warning users about content while still leaving it up -- might lead to a slippery slope where employees weigh in on content they personally don’t like ⚔️

The memo comes after hundreds of Facebook employees participated in a virtual walkout in criticism of the company’s decision to not moderate or take down Trump’s post. At least two employees resigned over the issue, and at least two Facebook partners publicly criticized the decision 😡
